Giorgio Armani: Holiday 2010 Kits Review

Sunday, October 31, 2010

This year, Giorgio Armani offers 4 value kits that are currently available for purchase at Nordstrom.  I wasn't aware of these sets until the wonderful counter manager of Giorgio Armani at my local counter introduced them to me.  Carmi Santiano is really sweet and helpful, so if you have any questions about the kits, lipstick shades selection, or the makeup line, please give her a call at 408-248-2180 ext 1769 and ask for the Giorgio Armani makeup counter.

Giorgio Armani: Rouge d'Armani Lipstick Swatches and Review

Rouge d'Armani is the newest line of lipstick from Giorgio Armani.  These claim to be long lasting lipsticks that do not dry out the lips.  I'm happy to report that I am pleasantly surprised at how well these lipsticks delivered on both claims.  You can find these at your local Nordstrom counters or online.  They retail at $30USD, which is on the same price range as Dior, Chanel, YSL, and Burberry.

Guerlain Holiday 2010 Collection Swatches and Review

Saturday, October 16, 2010

This year's holiday theme for Guerlain is a mixture of purple and gold with a cute bee accent on all the products.  When I think of Guerlain, the first thing that comes to mind is luxurious and elegant packaging.  This is one of the few brands where the cosmetics products look absolutely stunning on the vanity table.  Of course Guerlain is a high end cosmetics brand that certainly comes with a much higher price tag. Stock images are from Nordstrom's website.

Guerlain Ombré Éclat Eyeshadow Palette ($56USD)

Velours D'or 410 is a gorgeous looking quad at first glance.  The packaging is a gold color plated case.  The gold eyeshadow has an imprint of a bee while the other 3 colors have honeycomb prints. It is certainly a feast on the eyes with the design and packaging.  Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the texture of all 4 colors.  As you can see in the swatches, the 3 darker colors (black with shimmer, violet with shimmer, and deep eggplant) all swatch as matte and chalky.  The gold color is a chunky glitter.  I consider a shadow "chunky" when I can literally blow the pieces of glitter/shadow bits off my hands.  This quad will require some work and a good base to avoid glitter fallout.  You can probably also use these wet instead of dry, which might make the colors darker and more intense.

Chanel Holiday 2010 Collection Swatches and Review

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

This year, Chanel's Holiday 2010 Collection is a mixture of browns, taupes, and fuchsia.  It's somewhat reminiscent of last year's canary theme but much brighter in color.  You can now find the collection on the Chanel website or at Nordstrom, Nieman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue counters.

Also, Nordstrom has an Exclusive Beauty Gift right now with any $120 purchase and Chanel counters have a gift with $100.  If you end up spending $120USD at Nordstrom, you end up with 2 GWP.  Spend an extra $30USD, you get 3 GWP.

Burberry Cosmetics: Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation Swatches and Review

Sunday, October 3, 2010

The last visit I made to Nordstrom San Francisco, I unfortunately ran out of time to do full swatches of the Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation.  Susie was kind enough to send me samples of each color so I can share them with you.  If you are interested in the Burberry Beauty line, please give her a call at Nordstrom San Francisco. She will help answer any product questions you may have and is great with color match for foundations/bronzer/blush.

I currently have the Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation and the Sheer Luminous Compact Foundation.  If you follow me on twitter, you probably have seen me list them in several FOTD tweets.  The Luminous Fluid Foundation retails for $52USD for 1oz and the Sheer Luminous Compact Foundation is $55USD.  They can be purchased exclusively on the Nordstrom website or at some local counters.

Below are the ingredients for the liquid foundation, which is conveniently printed on the Burberry packaging.  The picture might be a bit small so if you're looking for a specific ingredient, please let me know.  There is definitely alcohol and silicon in the product, albeit not the first listed, but be aware of this before purchasing if you are allergic to them.

As previously reviewed, each of these come in a slightly heavy but very sturdy packaging with the classic Burberry check print. The Burberry check print top cap is heavier compared to the actual clear plastic package that holds the foundation.
